My major research trajectory centers on histories of rhetorical education and practice, particularly in nineteenth- and early-twentieth-century US high schools. My book, A Shared History: Writing in the High School, College, and University, 1856-1886, is forthcoming from Southern Illinois University Press (Fall 2019). My research has appeared or is forthcoming in major journals within the field of rhetoric and composition, including College English, Composition Studies, Rhetoric Review, Kairos, Currents in Electronic Literacy, JAC, and elsewhere. I have also published outside of rhetoric and composition venues, including in journals like Pedagogy, Ohio Valley History, edited collections, and a prize-winning essay for Technology in Student Affairs.
